Mastodon Load Lab

Mastodon Load Lab is a working space for operators and developers testing community infrastructure under real and simulated load. It is for people who run Mastodon instances, build federated community tools, investigate performance limits, and want practical evidence about how systems behave under pressure. People share test plans, workload profiles, measurements, reproduction steps, failure reports, and fixes. The focus is on clear observations: what was tested, what happened, where the system degraded, and which changes improved the result. Threads can develop into shared investigations that remain useful after the immediate test is over. Independent ownership matters because infrastructure findings should be available in a durable public thread rather than disappearing into an algorithmic feed or a private channel. The host maintains the space, sets its operating context, and helps keep reports focused, reproducible, and useful to the people doing the work.

We are the team behind thecommonshub.com, building community creation tooling. This community tests Mastodon infrastructure and documents load limits and failure behavior.
